Avec tout mon Coeur!

Thank you for the kind welcome to the world of blogging.. Rickey and I LOVE to read blogs from our friends and couples we know and decided that it would be fun for us to do this too! Kinda exciting! Here goes...

As you might know, 4 months ago Rickey and I decided that we would take the plunge and purchase a puppy together. At the time, I thought that this would be a scary but exciting undertaking in my life, being that I have never had a puppy of my very own. After much searching for the perfect pup and brainstorming the perfect name, we found our "little baby" in Olive Branch, MS from the most delightful family. After an "almost" panic attack from nervousness and excitement, we bought the little guy on a Saturday in the February snow and brought him back home with us. We named our Alaskan Malamute puppy Abner, in honor for our love of baseball and the creator of the game, Abner Doubleday. Abner has farrrrr exceeded what I thought I would feel for a pet, and has SERIOUSLY become our child! When he sleeps, he rests in royalty, and even travels with his own entourage and a fan that we plug in the wall "in case he wants it or gets too hot". He is the second love of my life and has just brought such a joy to my life, I cant even explain. I definitely understand now how dogs are considered man's best friend. He makes me so happy when he pulls Rickey halfway across the yard just to run to me and get a kiss or hug.

Second topic for the day.. my Rick. He is just the absolute best thing ever. Recently we took a trip to New Orleans to celebrate our anniversary and we had the best time! It seems like just yesterday we started dating, man oh man how time flies! Rickey, being from the Louisiana area knew his way around New Orleans somewhat, yet we wanted to see the city from the tourist perspective. We toured the French Quarter, walked through Jackson Square, dined at the famous Emeril', had breakfast at Mother's, and taste tested Abita beer at the local hangout Jaques-Imo's. We spent a day at the Audubon Aquarium and devoured beignets at Cafe Du Monde. I must say, I have the best and most thoughtful boyfriend in the entire world. He just completely surprised me with the trip and each day I got more excited to go! I love him with all my heart, and in the way of the New Orleans locals who still speak french, Avec tout mon coeur! (with all my heart)... Rickey and I say this to each other all the time, but it is well meant.....

As for myself, its been a hard Monday and Tuesday and I have to admit that I am proud of my sisters for the weekend that we have had. A family member of ours is very sick and is dying of terminal cancer and the process of remembering and also preperation can be very hard. My sisters are truly remarkable, to be so young yet to carry such a strong compassion for others and strength that 20 year olds and 18 year olds typically do not posess. Brittany and I had a weekend that will definately be remembered, as we became the first responders to a car accident that was troubling and scary. I havent been able to sleep for the past two nights and thoughts continue to roll through my head about the scene. Brittany is a tough little cookie and seemed to completely take charge in a difficult situation. When I was talking to Rickey about what I was feeling, he replied with one of the most soothing answers in the world. "Lacey, Betty was sure there helping you and Brittany out, " he said. Its great when you have people to back you up, and I always feel confident that Betty is my guardian angel and definately watches over us all and helps us when she knows that we might need it. I absolutely love my family and my sisters with all my heart as well. They are unshakable and fearless. Thats the "betty" coming out of them.

Avec tout mon Coeur! With all my heart....... L
